Hello From The Fender Reissue Shop!
Collector Potential for Early Fender Reissue Stratocasters
We at The Fender Reissue Shop often get asked what reissue strats will be the best investment over the long run. The recent 4 years or so have seen the prices on these early reissue strats more than double, particularly custom color and early 1982 instruments. The fact is that not too many of these 1982-1984 reissue strats were finished in custom colors (black, vintage white, fiesta red, candy apple red, and lake placid blue), which means that they rarely come up for sale. The same holds true for early 1982 reissue strats with rare features (red or grey bottom pickups, neck pocket serial number sticker, and factory routing). There are only a couple thousand early reissue strats that have these features, and likewise they rarely come up for sale. It is the opinion of The Fender Reissue Shop that custom color reissues from 1982-1984 and early 1982 reissues will continue to be the most collectable into the future. Just imagine that it is 1990 and you have a choice to buy a fiesta red 1962 strat or a sunburst 1962 strat. Currently a fiesta red strat is worth over double what its sunburst counterpart is. The only reason for this is the extreme rarity of the custom color!
Low Serial Number Fender Reissue Stratocasters and Telecasters
The Fender Reissue Shop loves Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters with low serial numbers! We recently sold V000514 and V000951, both 3-digit 1982 Fender Reissue Strats. The Fender Reissue Shop also recently got our hands on a 1982 Fender '52 Reissue Telecaster with serial number 0146! We are constantly in search of low serial number Fender Reissue Strats and Teles, particularly those with 3 digits. So far the lowest serial number that we have seen was V000138, and that was on a parts guitar. We have yet to see a 2 digit Fender Reissue serial number, but we know that they are out there. If any readers own such a guitar or know where one is hiding out, please let us know!

Featured Reissue #1. V000449. 1982 '62 RI Strat.
This may just be the holy grail of early Fender Reissue Strats! This is one of the earliest serial number we have seen at The Fender Reissue Shop! V000449 serial number with matching neckpocket sticker, rare red bottom pickups with thin plastic wiring and factory bodying routing. This reissue has an early 6-5-82 neckdate and pots dating from the 6th week of 1982. The original 3-way switch is even still in the guitar! This guitar came from the factory with the extremely rare "tagless" case. The very first reissue strats to be made in 1982 were shipped in Fender Tweed cases that did not have the rectangle Fender tag underneath the handle. I have only seen this on a few very early reissue cases! This truly is a 100% original "closet classic" 1982 '62 reissue stratocaster. Thanks to the reader that sent these pictures in, we are all drooling here at The Fender Reissue Shop!
