Martin John Mayer OM-28 Acoustic Guitar - SOLD
Martin John Mayer OM-28. This guitar is numbered 120/404. This is the original limited edition John Mayer Martin acoustic guitar released in 2004. Only 404 of these guitars were made. Each one was hand signed by John Mayer and the CEO of Martin. A cheaper version of this guitar, the OMJM was released more recently.
This guitar has been played quite a bit in its 5 year life span. There are some small dings and scrapes in the finish and some areas of finish wear. These guitars almost never show up for sale.
An after market strap button was placed by a certified Martin Tech. The original case is beat up pretty good. There are some rips in the tolex.
Included with the guitar are all the original documents that are original to the guitar. Original warranty info, original receipt, original manual, etc.
The Mayer OM-28 sports an Englemann spruce top with “bold herringbone” wood inlay, a rosette with an abalone shell pearl center ring, and a gorgeous vintage toner finish. The sides and back are constructed of East Indian rosewood, with an HD-28-style zig-zag purfling strip, black/white inlay, and a polished gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The top, sides, and back are bound with grained ivoroid, which is also used for the heel cap and end piece. Additional decorative touches include inset aluminum border inlays on the African black ebony belly bridge and East Indian rosewood head plate, a large “old-style” logo decal with special silver infill, abalone-inlaid bridge and endpin caps, and mother-of-pearl position dots. Unique to this guitar are a “triangle and dots figure” (the international pilot’s symbol for high noon, replicated from Mayer’s wristwatch) inlaied in abalone, bordered with mother-of-pearl at the 12th fret, and Mayer’s signature inlaid in mother-of-pearl at the 20th fret.
